Matty D was up for holidays, so me, Judda, Andy and him went out in funnel bay to do some bottom bashing. Just a short session, we did pretty well. I nearly got my first legal coral trout… 37cm, only 1cm off!

First Airlie Fishing Trip
This was an interesting one! Judda’s motor had been in the shop forever so we decided to go to a remote creek, launch and use the tide to drift down and back. We thought it would look bizarre, having a motorless boat, but when we got there the ramp was so muddy it was impossible to use…. unless you had a motorless boat!
One person had actually removed theirs so they could launch, most turned away.
We got a lot of Bream, this was back when I was a Victorian at heart and was really impressed by Bream.
Got some crabs too, Judda made me handle them… I had youtubed how to do it, but obviously not very well as they took a notch out of my finger!
Fun on the Great Walk
The Great Walk is a trip in airlie, 33km from memory, an amazing bushwalk where you come out right in the middle of town.
I saw a massive python sunning itself on the trail, I threw a stick near it to wake it up! It saw me and got scared and left.
I also remember dropping my camera from the bridge into the river, fortunately it was shallow and a shockproof waterproof camera.
Sea Kayaking around Shute Harbour
Anyway we kayaked around for a bit, it was good fun powering along trying to keep up with the instructor and the doubles, they were going at a leisurely pace and it wasn’t too hard to keep up, but I got a semi-workout from it as well. Although it could have all been in my head since I wasn’t feeling great. But we went out to an island and played around there for a while, before going back. The instructor was telling everyone how this girl he knows was kayaking up the east coast or something, and it was starting to sound like a good idea for me. Just got to get a spare $5k to spend on equipment (read: it will never happen).
Silent Night

I had to work Sunday, but we all booked a table for Sunday night (sans the swedes who had to leave) and once we got there we all introduced a drinking game. The canadians taught me ‘fingers’ which is a version of fives-in, and the english did ’21’ which is sort of like begurkin with numbers. I got everyone to do a boat race, with europe vs the rest of the world, and we kicked ass. I was especially proud to see the German nailing them, he claimed not to drink too often, but I find it hard to believe since he comes from the place where steins were born. I then had a personal race against one of the canadians, and since there were a few other boats groups around, we tried to challenge a few, but no one was in the mood of bliss that we were. Very glad I ended up on this trip, not one of their boring ones. After that we all went out to a club, I had to work the next day so I was home by 2am. Anyway, we all swapped contact details, but that was pretty much the end of a week filled with fun and Michael Jackson jokes. I hear, since he’s mostly plastic, that they are going to melt him down into lego blocks so the kids can play with him for a change.
