Edith Falls is roughly halfway to Katherine from Darwin, probably a bit closer to Katherine. It is a great campsite. There are three main pools to swim in. The first is a 100m flat walk to the campsite. It is a very large rockpool, it can be hard to enter without good footwear.
The second is the main one, it is pretty short, from memory 300m, however it is pretty steep and quite rocky in sections. But it is worth it, as the pools are great.

Paradise Valley near Licola is a farm that also serves as a campground. Our family (plus a few more) have gone there every easter since before I was born. I was first there at 3 months old, and I’ve only missed a couple since. It has showers, a creek to swim in, daily rubbish collection, and it allows dogs. Fireplaces are welcome. We regularly do canoe trips down there, I see a lot of people fishing but they rarely catch anything.

Jim Jim falls is best known as the massive waterfall in Kakadu.
However this is the wet season Jim Jim, that is also closed to visit. When you can visit and swim there, Jim Jim is either a trickle or has no water coming down. But it’s still a great place to visit. It is one interesting walk… not that far but very difficult, as walking from large stone to large stone for 800m is pretty exhausting. The water is quite cold too, especially at the base. But if you’ve got the car to make it (strictly 4WD only) you won’t be disappointed.
Wangi is popular and accessible by 2WD. Yes, it gets crowded. But unlike Florence, it has lots of parking, and it is a huge swimming pool, so it never seems that bad.
It now has a visitor centre, if you want chips in the middle of a national park.
You can swim there in the dry. In the wet it is closed.
There are a lot of these small rockpools, they are great fun, and accessible by 2WD. This means CROWDED!
Parking is a nightmare, although the last time I was there it looked like they were expanding the parking lot.
If you can get there, they are worth a visit and a dip.
